Family, let's eat!
After nouvelle cuisine, which we hardly ever see now, here is a new kind of cookery that promises to... teach. It is "school of life" cookery, invented by Francis Hammond. It's family cookery, but what you eat doesn't matter. When the whole family gets into the kitchen, it's an experience of life. Washing the salad becomes teamwork, grating the cheese in a pair an exercise of mutual assistance, tossing pancakes an apprenticeship in risk-taking. The time spent at the table is an invitation to pleasure and if games are permitted, it is because they add spice to life! This new cookery is certainly not a bowl of cherries.
